Abstract

We examined 202 in-patients aged 56 to 87 years (mean 64,7 ± 2,7 years) at our University hospital (the neurological department). The first group consisted of 30 patients with chronic tension-type headache, and the second group consisted of 77 patients with low back pain, there were 95 people without any pain in the third group. In the group with chronic tension-type headache we found higher results of the test «Timed up and Go», stabilometric indicators (rate of overall center of pressure), length and area of statokineziogrammy with eyes open). Parameters such as Romberg coefficient and the data on the Berg scale were the highest in the group with low back pain. The lowest rates were found in patients who do not experience pain. The study demonstareted that pain has an impact on postural stability and patients with chronic pain feel worse. This leads to postural imbalance. Stabilometric study helps to identify and predict the disorders of postural balance.
