In the article there are investigated evolution of the leading periodical in the Russian missionary diocese in the USA during the period of its activity before 1917. The author considers the conditions for the creation of the magazine, represents its editorial staff, gives the goals and objectives of publication, reveals its topics, marks the most interesting articles. The role of the magazine in the spiritual, cultural and social life of the Russian immigrants is shown.
В статье исследуется эволюция ведущего периодического издания русской миссионерской епархии в США за период его деятельности до 1917 г. Рассмотрены предпосылки создания журнала, представлен его редакторский состав, приведены цели и задачи издания, раскрыта его тематика, отмечены наиболее интересные статьи. Освещена роль журнала в духовной, культурной и общественной жизни русских иммигрантов.
