Abstract

The aim of this work is to establish the influence of sliding velocity of a contactor for unde-sirable woody vegetation with chemical-based care the extent of its withering. First there was per-formed a theoretical study of the influence of the ratio of the peripheral speed of the drum and the speed of movement of the unit and other parameters on the rate of flow of the working fluid. It is established that the sliding speed increases the rate of flow. Then the experimental studies of a pro-totype machine with a working body in the form of two coaxially arranged drums when caring for spruce cultures took place. The drums had the opportunity as a counter and associated areas of ro-tation. The experiments were performed on fireweed glade. In the experiment there varied three fac-tors: the dose of herbicide application on the active substance, the concentration of the solution and the kinematic parameter. Kinematic parameter was the logarithm of the ratio of the circumferential speed of the drum to the speed of the unit base two. Kinematic parameter was the logarithm of the ratio of the circumferential speed of the drum to the speed of the unit. As the output value of the ex-periment is adopted, the degree of withering of unwanted woody vegetation, expressed as a per-centage. Arboricity drug activity was assessed visually on a 6-point scale. The degree of withering was determined for four species: aspen, birch, alder and willow. When processing the results, the regression equations of the second order in the normalized and in physical signs of the factors. The study found that the degree of withering of weeds increases with the dose of the drug, and increase the intensity gradually decreases. Graph of withering depending on the concentration has a maxi-mum inside the range of variation of this factor, and depending on the kinematic parameter has a minimum. This confirms the theoretical conclusion that with increasing the sliding speed of the drum surface with plants, the degree of withering increases.
