Abstract

The article examines a highly topical issue of consumer behavior transformation at the age of institutionalized services. The most socially vulnerable layers the elderly are the scope of this research. The author defines the service as an institution that cares for people by rendering socially important services to them. Through the analysis of the official data and the results of previous research, including the authors own works, the author comes to the conclusion that consumer practices of the elderly are characterized by decreasing consumption and are aimed at satisfying the most basic vital needs, while the national institution of service, due to its underdevelopment, is not able to fully support adaptation of the elderly to the changed social and economic realias.
