Abstract

The article tells about the main religious-philosophical and social concepts of the movement of «Americanism» in the Catholicism of the late XIX early XX century, shows the response from the Vatican; special attention is paid to the comparative characteristics of«Americanism» and the related movement of Catholic modernism, allowing to speak about universal, in many ways, the ideological foundations of the Catholic liberals of that time

Cтатья повествует об основных религиозно-философских и социальных концепциях движения «американизма» в католичестве конца XIX в., показывает реакцию на него со стороны Ватикана. Особое внимание уделяется сравнительным характеристикам «американизма» и родственного ему движения католического модернизма, позволяющим говорить об универсальных, по многим параметрам, идеологических основаниях католического либерализма того времени.
