The article examines the state of the consumer sectors of the USSR economy since the end of the 1970s until the collapse of the Soviet Union. It is noted that despite the efforts made by the Communist party and the government to increase production and improve the quality of consumer goods, the shortage of many types of goods and services was not only not diminished, but acquired a tendency to increase. The widening gap between circulation of money and commodity supply imbalances only strengthened imbalances in the domestic market.

В статье анализируется состояние потребительской сферы экономики СССР с конца 1970-х гг. до момента распада Советского Союза. Отмечается, что несмотря на предпринимаемые партией и правительством меры по увеличению производства и повышению качества товаров широкого потребления, дефицит многих видов товаров и услуг не только не уменьшался, но приобрел тенденцию к увеличению. Увеличивавшийся разрыв между находящейся в обороте денежной массой и товарным предложением только усиливал диспропорции на внутреннем рынке.
