Abstract

Extractives from neutral-sulphite spent liquor being precipitated onto pulp thread decrease the pulp drainage. Preliminary removal of extractives from the liquor by the means of sedimentation and chemical addition is suggested. Treatment of pulp with extractives-free liquor increases pulp yield and improves its mechanical properties.
