Abstract

Texts of the Colyma theme make the base of Varlam Shalamov’s art. The exact semantics of the freedom’s restriction and the geographical “extremity” of the locus report an endless variety of unique colours to the category Cold. Cold becomes not only the sign of the permafrost’s areal, but its main characteristic, connected not only with physiological feelings, but with printing of the Colyma “picture” on the internal, non-material human’s world.
