Abstract

Primary health care system urgently needs a solution for offering psychiatric care for its clients. This article reports the data that confirm the importance of this complicated medical and managerial issue and mentions the principal difficulties in our country. It also reviews existing international models of interaction between psychiatrists and general practitioners. The authors analyze the attempts to resolve this problem in our country in recent decade. They propose the model of multidisciplinary interaction between psychiatrists and doctors working in primary care with an accent on medico-psychological guidance, and describe organizational and educational components of this model.
