Abstract

Определены основные сферы общественной работы священнослужителей в приходах. Священнослужители в сельской местности были главными просветителями и наставниками для своей паствы. Они заведовали церковно-приходскими школами, боролись с пьянством в деревне, организовывали благотворительную помощь для односельчан. Авторитет священника среди крестьян во многом зависел от его активности и инициативы.

The article determines the main spheres of priests' activity in parishes. Countryside priests were the main enlighteners and mentors for their flock. They managed parochial schools, fought against drinking and organized charity actions. A priest's authority among peasants depended to a large extent on his activity and initiative.
