Abstract

Domestic and foreign literature describes over 2000 laparoscopic interventions on adrenal glands of adult patients. This method has not yet found an equally wide application in children even though the first report of laparoscopic adrenalectomy in a child dates back to 1992; only slightly more than 190 operations for the treatment of various endocrinopathies and adrenal diseases proper have been described. Many authors recognize high effectiveness of endovideosurgical treatment as allowing to reduce duration of interventions and minimize the number of complications. Moreover, laparoscopic adrenalectomy in children permits to decrease the size of the surgical injury, improve the postoperative clinical course and tolerance of mini-invasive surgery.
