The article is devoted to the analysis of the state of cognitive preconditions of speech which children of preschool age have (by the example of studying the probabilistic forecasting ability). The author fulfils the theoretical analysis and considers the results of the experimental research in which the 4-6-year-old children with the normal speech development and the impaired one have taken part. With the help of the comparative analysis types of probabilistic forecasts and their representation in preschool children's speech producing are defined, the necessity of correctional work on forming the probabilistic forecasting ability for children with general speech underdevelopment is proved.
