Abstract

The article is devoted to the specifics of an artistic image considered from linguistic positions. The author suggests to differentiate the concepts "figurativeness" and "artistry" as the separate features peculiar to the word, the statement, the text, and the concept "artistic image". The artistic image is characterized as complete integrative formation, a result of creative activity of the person in the field of verbal art. It is noted that the artistic image is formed within the art text as uniting features of various style kinds of the literary language and nonliterary forms of public language with a support on expressive resources of all levels of language (phonetic, lexical, morphological, syntactic, semantic), and also on the phraseological and paremiaelogical units used for the purpose of giving to the speech of esthetics, expressiveness, emotionality and other qualities promoting the strengthening of the influencing function of an image.
