Abstract

The article presents an overview of research papers aimed at singling out the repertoire of conceptual metaphors realized in different discourse types. The author compares previously enlisted metaphors on the basis of the quantity and peculiarities of metaphoric mappings. The analysis shows that the number of conceptual metaphors and their productivity in different discourse types is practically is to a great extent similar the same, but the composite elements of different source domains used in a metaphoric mapping manifest a significant difference in them conditioned by discourse type and its pragmatic aims.
