
The article focuses on blackmail as a sign-situation, in particular, on its salient pragmatic aspect which manifests two main constituents the blackmailer and the blackmailed. This sign-situation en ters the domains of understatement and overstatement and is characterized by features of the abovementioned phenomena including their semantic and syntactic representation as well as pragmatic characteristics.
В статье рассматривается феномен blackmail как знак-ситуация с ярко выраженной прагматической составляющей, в которой основными компонентами выступают фигуры шантажирующего и шантажируемого. Данный знак входит в пространства категоричности и некатегоричности и характеризуется особенностями (семантико-синтаксической репрезентацией, прагматическими характеристиками), присущими вышеназванным явлениям.
