Abstract

The aspects of the socio-natural development of the Russian reformed village, as reflected in the memoirs of some of his contemporaries, are discussed. There is a high degree of concern about the negative environmental effects of demographic and agricultural modernization of the second half 19 –early 20 th century, leading to the severe agricultural crisis.
