Abstract

The article is devoted to revealing the basic characteristics and subject differentiation of the English show-business terminological lexis. The authors demonstrate the specific features of terminology that allow scholars to draw a dividing line between terminology and general lexis. The terminological units in question can be divided into the following subject groups: advertising, sports, variety art, computer games, fashion, mass media, success. All of these groups differ in the number of verbalizers. The authors come to the conclusion that the subject spectrum of show business terminology is quite broad and there are active processes of terminologization and reterminologization in it.

Статья посвящена раскрытию основных характеристик и дифференциации по тематическому признаку англоязычной терминологической лексики сферы шоу-бизнеса. Показана специфика терминологических единиц, отличающая их от общеупотребительной лексики. Данные терминологические единицы можно разделить на такие тематические группы, как реклама, спорт, эстрада, компьютерные игры, мода, СМИ, успех, различающиеся по количеству вербализаторов. Авторы приходят к выводу о том, что тематический спектр терминологии шоу-бизнеса достаточно широк, и в нем активны процессы терминологизации и ретерминологизации.
