This article focuses on the establishment of the institution of adoption in pre-revolutionary Russia. Particular attention is paid to usynoveniyu in ancient Russia, considered carefully during the reform efforts of Peter I and the era of the reign of Catherine II, when there was a bower principle of adoption.
