The paper presents a general analysis of the condition of criminality and its prospective trends in the early post-Soviet and modern periods; it also analyses the dominating factors determining the development of criminality in the post-modern period. The author examines some issues of fighting crimes and names the factors hindering their prevention. The author concludes that considerable changes in criminogenic determinants, the emergence of new types of crimes in the spheres where public control is problematic as well as changes in the structure and characteristics of population while crime prevention remains on the current level will all result in a significant deterioration of public safety in the nearest future.

В статье представлен общий анализ состояния преступности и ее перспективных тенденций в первый постсоветский и современный периоды, проанализированы доминирующие факторы, детерминирующие развитие преступности в эпоху постмодерна. Рассмотрены проблемы в сфере осуществления противодействия преступности, названы факторы, затрудняющие ее предупреждение. Автор приходит к выводу о том, что существенное изменение криминогенных детерминант, развитие новых видов преступности в сферах, сложных для социального контроля, изменение структуры и характеристик населения при существующем уровне предупреждения преступности приведут в ближайшем будущем к значительному снижению уровня общественной безопасности.
