Abstract

The article focuses on the diatopic variation in the early scripta of the Veneto region in Northeastern Italy (13th and 14th centuries). Some theoretical and methodological aspects of studying Italian linguistic witnesses of the medieval period (i.e. the earliest extant texts in Italo-Romance) are discussed and the linguistic features of the four main diatopic Veneto varieties are analysed.
