Abstract

This paper discusses conversion in the context of sociological research of new religious movements (NRM). In the first part, phenomena of conversion and NRM are defined and a short review is given of theoretical and methodological approaches used in research. The second part deals with the results of an empirical study of the St Petersburg community of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON).
