Abstract

In this article the monuments of pre-Islamic Arabic heroic epos are examined. Special attention is paid to work "Aiyam al-arab", collected by Basrian philologist Abu Ubaida Ma'mar Ibn al-Musanna. "Aiyam al-arab" is not only a source in which facts of Arabic history are concentrated, but the initial phase of the narrative Arabic prose. This is one the first attempts of including old Arabic legends in general epic context.
