The myth of deity's birth and death is expressed in the spatial organization of Konstantin Balmont's novel "Under the New Sickle" ("Pod Novym Serpom") as the idea of the boundary and that of crossing it. These border states are experienced both by the artist who discovers his poetic gift and by the country which is on the brink of changes that will bring about a new birth.
