Abstract

The article deals with risk factors for the health of extremely premature babies. Risk factors of antenatal period include combined complications of pregnancy, intrauterine growth retardation, chronic hypoxia, intrauterine infection. Risk factors of intranatal period include spontaneous vaginal delivery, rapid delivery, and emergency caesarean section due to absolute indications from mother’s side. Risk factors of postnatal period include birth asphyxia, massive intracranial hemorrhages, and long-term artificial pulmonary ventilation. Cesarean section was shown to increase the frequency of birth of healthy babies. However it doesn’t exclude development of severe pathology.
