Abstract

The paper analyses the stylistic potential of the word in German media discourse and its role in forming new ecological mentality. Emphasis is placed on the importance of special means of nomination both in the national language and specialized languages. Attention is also given to special stylistic means used in the distance strategy when acute issues of the surrounding world, of man and nature are raised and discussed.
