Abstract

Central blood pressure is known to have great prognostic valuein patients with arterial hypertension. Itcan be estimated with applanation tonometry of radial or carotid arteries using quantitative sphygmogram and brachial artery blood pressure. The study was aimed to identify factors affecting the level of central blood pressurein middle-aged and elderly patients with stage 2 hypertension. The study included 32 patients with uncontrolled stage 2 hypertension and no regular hypotensive therapy. The analysis of data showed that the level of central blood pressure depended on age, systolic and pulse pressure.
