Abstract

The media image of Vladimir Putin has been reconstructed on the material of comments of the Internet users. A media image is a set of ideas about the activity, views and effectiveness of a politician which are formed in the media environment as a communicative response to his political activity. The methods of analysis, used in the undertaken study, are frequency analysis and graphic and semantic modeling. The article argues that the Internet community becomes an active member in political discourse it turns to be a generator of criteria for the assessment of activity. V. Putin is seen not so much as a personality, but as an embodiment of power. The relationship of V. Putin with the Russian public at large is described within the framework of the opposition “RULER PEOPLE”.
