Abstract

The author solves the optimal control problem in the predator-prey model with lumped and distributed delay. The mathematical model of the interaction of two populations is described by means of a system of Volterra integro-differential equations. The maximum principle for the initial continuous problem is formulated considering the defined constraints and functional form. The numerical method is developed to construct an approximate optimal control on the basis of fast automatic differentiation method. It is shown that the obtained numerical results of the approximate optimal control correspond to the maximum principle for the initial continuous problem with a prescribed accuracy. It is shown that the presence of a distributed delay in the system leads to periodic solutions and the amplitude of oscillation and the value of the minimized functional increases with increasing delay. Optimal solution is constructed for various parameters of the task and the form of minimized functional. The influence of penalty coefficients for the optimal solution is investigated.
