Abstract

Levels, dynamics, and age-specific incidence of melanoma and skin cancer in the Khabarovsk Territory in 1990-2012 was studied. Comparing 1990-1994 with 2008-2012 IRST for skin cancer increased by 157 % in men and 175 % in women, and for melanoma by 198 % and 200 % respectively. Skin cancer IRST average annual growth rate among residents of Komsomolsk-on-Amur, was higher than in Khabarovsk both for men and women: 3,9 % vs. 2,4 % and 5,2 % vs 3,3 % respectively. In melanoma, the most rapid growth of IRST was observed in men living in Komsomolsk 8,6 % and in women of Khabarovsk 7,0 %. The highest average annual growth rates of morbidity were observed in men with skin cancer and melanoma in the age group 60-69 years (4,6 % and 12,9 %, respectively) in women with skin cancer at the age 70 and older 12,1 %. In 2010-2012, in women under the age of 30 years we observed a dramatic increase in the number of melanoma cases that resulted in an average annual growth rates in the studied period up to 320,3 %.
