Abstract

Objective: To describe safety of buildings being erected in seismically dangerous regions of construction where permafrost is present. Methods: Calculation and theoretical study was conducted to check whether it is possible to use pile base as seismoisolation in areas with high seismic magnitude with preservation of piles’ carrying capacity. Calculations were conducted by spectral method. During calculations, value variations were introduced for the length of a loose part of a pile, mass per pile, various pile designs. Calculations were conducted both with and without introduction of additional damping into the seismoisolation system. Results: The study proposes a solution for introducing seismoisolation systems as pile bases with high foundation frame, which allows to preserve the foundation in frozen state. The data obtained is presented as isolines. The study shows under which conditions can pile base with high foundation frame serve as effi cient seismoprotection. Recommendations for choice of damping device are provided. Dry friction damper design solutions are offered. Practical importance: Study results can be used for designing buildings in seismically dangerous regions where permafrost is present. Introduction of proposed designs will signifi cantly increase safety of buildings constructed in seismically dangerous regions where permafrost is present. Additionally, proposed designs will signifi cantly simplify construction technology and cut costs for building such houses.
