Abstract

The article examines a four-phase overhead power transmission line. It receives analytical expressions that connect fault parameters in the sending end with the parameters in the fault localization through symmetrical components. The author develops one-sided fault location methods for distributed and lumped overhead lines that have a zero error if remote end system impedance is correct. The effect of overhead line parameter distribution as well as the incorrect remote end overhead line impedance on fault location accuracy is estimated.
