Abstract

AbstractThe apical delta represents a complex anatomical configuration at the root apex characterized by multiple accessory and lateral canals that create a branching communication between the pulp space and periapical tissues. Its presence poses significant challenges in endodontic diagnosis, debridement, disinfection, and obturation, thereby influencing treatment outcomes. Clinically, these ramifications necessitate the use of enhanced irrigation protocols, activation systems, and three-dimensional obturation techniques to improve disinfection and sealing of the root canal system. This article reviews the morphology, classification, diagnostic approaches, and clinical implications of the apical delta, emphasizing its role in endodontic prognosis and contemporary management strategies aimed at optimizing therapeutic success.
