The collapse of the USSR and the creation of Russia radically changed the daily life of a school teacher. 90-ies. XX century. became a moment of psychological stress for teachers, The emergence of the concept of «pedagogical service» along with a sharp decline in living standards led to a crisis, expressed in the strikes of school teachers. The paper presents the protests of teachers in 1992 in the Chelyabinsk region in the framework of the peak of the first wave of the strike movement of post-Soviet Russia (1991—1994). According to the materials of the archive, memoirs of participants and publications in the press, the General trends and features of the spring strikes of school teachers of eight municipalities of the Chelyabinsk region are considered. Shown as manifestations of the all-Russian traits of the performances of the public sector at the regional level, the South Urals and their specificity, we identify two protests. The authorities took only partial measures to solve these issues, but the protests came to naught as a result of the adaptation of teachers to the new realities, expressed in the search for regular jobs, get the expense of the educational process, or withdrawal from the educational system.
