Abstract

Шахов Сергей Александрович, доктор технических наук, доцент, профессор кафедры «Гидравлика, водоснабжение, химия», Сибирский государственный университет путей сообщения, Новосибирск, Россия, sashakhov@mail.ru Sergey A. Shakhov, Doctor of Sciences (Engineering), Associate Professor, Professor of the Department of Hydraulics, Water Supply, and Chemistry, Siberian Transport University (SGUPS), Novosibirsk, Russia, sashakhov@mail.ru Одним из потенциальных многотоннажных источников сырья для получения строительных материалов являются практически неиспользуемые золы от сжигания образующихся в результате функционирования очистных сооружений канализации осадков бытовых сточных вод (ОБСВ). Ash generated by sewage treatment facilities – domestic sewage sludge (DWS) – is an untapped source of potential raw materials for the construction industry. We studied the material composition and properties of ash from the incineration of domestic wastewater. Ash consists of particles with a rough surface texture and porous microstructure and exhibits high absorbent properties. It has been established that the characteristics of ash produced by the incineration of DWS (the coefficient of philosity, true density, granulometric composition, the content of a number of oxides) differ significantly from ash produced by thermal power plants and loam which are used in the production of building materials. The proximity of the oxide composition of ash and loam makes it a rational choice as a fusible aluminosilicate raw material with an extended sintering interval. Hydraulic activity in the ash allows it to be considered as an active mineral additive for cement clinker. The crushing resistance of ash is comparable to that of expanded clay, which in some cases means it can be suitable as a filler or fine aggregate. The drainage characteristics of ash allow its use in the construction of road foundations.
