Abstract

Л.Н. Толстого (Тула), anastasia-mikhalcheva@rambler.ru Anastasia V. Mikhalcheva, assistant at the Department of English Philology, Tula State Lev Tolstoy Pedagogical University (Tula), anastasia-mikhalcheva@rambler.ru В данной статье проводится комплексный анализ средств экспрессивного синтаксиса, основанных на избыточности. The article provides a complex analysis of means of expressive syntax based on redundancy. The research materials comprise articles of National Geographic, which belongs to popular press. Using the methods of continuous sampling and systemic description, the author finds the main expressive means of syntax, related to influencing the minds of recipients by appealing to their background knowledge and cognitive experience. It is proved that the group of means of expressive syntax under consideration is predominantly used for specifying information required for better comprehension, and for further speculation on the topic. The conducted research shows that the redundancy-based means of expressive syntax increase the pragmatic potential of the article and the author’s impact on the readers.
