The article discusses options for modernization of existing small-section mills. An analysis of the current technology for cooling rolled products at mill 170 of PJSC MMK was carried out. The results of research and development work in 2020–2021 are considered, which showed the advantage of those developed at MSTU rolling modes over the current modes at the mill.
