Risku atpazīšana pilsētvidē. Rīgas pašvaldības policijas Centra pārvaldē patrulējošo policijas darbinieku gadījuma analīze

Abstract

This research attempts to understand how risks are perceived in urban environment by patrolling officers from the Riga Municipal Police Central district. During this research, I conducted four in-depth, semi-structured interviews and participated in patrolling units nine times. The gathered data is interpreted through a triadic set of theories: Boholm and Corvellec’s relational theory of risk, Pierre Bourdieu’s theory of practice, and Michel Foucault’s governmentality approach. Interpreted thus, the data reveals that risks are perceived in the form of individual-induced behaviors with the potential to harm the physical body, public order, and positive law per se. Such recognition of risk is learned through experience, which as this research elucidates is mainly about the strategic skill to anticipate forthcoming of temporal events.
