Сучасні англомовні короткі оповідання: їх визначення та структура

Abstract

Термін "оповідання" в його жанровому значенні зазвичай застосовується до будь-якого невеликого розповідного прозаїчного літературного твору з реалістичним забарвленням, що містить розгорнуту і закінчену оповідь про певну подію, випадок, життєвий епізод. У західно-європейській літературі відповідна жанрова група позначається терміном "новела", який є по суті синонімом терміна оповідання.
