The research on labor informality in Guayaquil reveals its significant impact on the local economy. Socioeconomic factors such as the lack of formal employment, poverty, and migration are identified as key causes. Most informal workers are young women with higher education but low incomes and limited benefits. Current public policies are insufficient due to lack of monitoring and resistance from informal workers. The mixed methodology used includes surveys and interviews with 150 informal workers and three experts. Strategies from countries like Colombia, which have reduced payroll costs and promoted training, are suggested as potential solutions to improve the situation in Guayaquil. Without significant changes, informality will likely continue to affect the labor market.
