
The dissertation, titled as ?The Concept of Adaptation & Game Adaptations: The Case Studies of 'Resident Evil' and 'Silent Hill' as Game-to-Film Adaptations?, is based on horror games and adaptation topic. Throughout the work the films based on digital games have been analyzed according to the concept of `adaptation? and its link to the source material has been studied. By focusing on the relations of adaptation and diverse brnachs of art, the adaptation methods and techniques used in adapting the digital games have been delineated. The extent of loyalty in the film adaptations of the digital games has been questioned. The films of `Resident Evil? and `Silent Hill? have been selected as the case studies for the film adaptations of horror games. In the conclusion, some insufficiency has been detected over the depth of the issue and its dynamics during the process of adaptation from the digital game to film.Key Words: Cinema, Digital Games, Adaptation, Silent Hill, Resident Evil
?Uyarlama Kavramı ve Oyun Uyarlamaları: Oyundan Sinemaya Uyarlama Örneği Olarak `Resident Evil? ve `Silent Hill?? isimli bu çalışma, korku oyunları ve uyarlama konusu üzerinde biçimlendirilmiştir. Çalışma kapsamında, dijital oyunlardan uyarlananan filmler, uyarlama kavramı altında incelenerek kaynak ile arasındaki bağ incelenmiştir. Uyarlamanın sanat dallarıyla ilişkileri üzerinde durularak, dijital oyunlardan uyarlama yapılırken hangi uyarlama tekniği ve yöntemlerine başvurulduğu araştırılmıştır. Dijital oyunlardan uyarlanan filmlerin sadakati sorgulanmıştır. Korku oyunlarından uyarlanan filmler ele alınırken, sadakat ?Resident Evil? ve ?Silent Hill? örnekleri üzerinde değerlendirilmiştir.
