Abstract

11 SUMMARY In this thesis, it is tried to determine the beginning and end points of the words in a sentence consisting of a limited number of isolated words. To determine the beginning and end points of the words, the energy level and the number of zero crossing of the speech and silent signal. This determination is done by checking the boundary values of the energy level and number of zero crossing determined for speech and silence regions. At first, a statistical study is carried out to determine the ranges of the boundary values. In the second stage, the computer programmes which determine the beginning and end points of the words are realized by using a single threshold and two thresholds of the energy level for one zero crossing threshold. C computer programming language is used in the programs.
