Ahmet Adnan Saygun`un 2. Yaylı Çalgılar Kuvarteti`nın modal ve formal yapısı

Abstract

ABSTRACT Ahmet Adnan Saygun's Op.35 Second Quartet for Strings which is showing revolutionary and innovational feature with its musical language, structure and its character, granted a special place in Turkish Music History by its special harmony of modality, tonality and tune, non-traditional usage of traditional Turkish music tunes and scales, musical power and originality. Every artwork given value by its form. In music, in order to compose a `Form` which we can describe as `outer structure`, we need multiple `inner structures`. When we combine musical components like melody, rhythm and harmony, we get the music `inner structure`. Ahmed Adnan Saygun generally used classical forms and components of classical forms to make `outer structure` which we can describe as a kind of `Multi-Formal Structure` in his masterpiece `Second Quartet for Strings`. Ahmet Adnan Saygun synthesized the whole materials from antiquity to presentday, by his usage of modal and harmonic approaches in his Second Quartet for Strings. Saygun's `Second Quartet for Strings` composed with modal approach, innovative and inquisitorial inner structure forms outer structure of oldtimes classical form. As Mustafa Kemal Ataturk's quote `You can hear our real music from Anatolia folk`, Ahmed Adnan Saygun combined traditional and nontraditional musical components. He also added his own `poly` components to `mono` traditional Turkish music. VI
