Multiobjective programming in production planning : An application in a boiler manufacturing company

Abstract

ABSTRACT This paper presents a multiobjective production planning model for a boiler manufacturing plant. A model is developed to determine the optimal production levels for the different types of boiler, which takes into consideration the goals of minimizing the overtime production quantity, maximizing the profit, and the minimizing the cost. Production is expressed in units per month. Alternative production plans are generated by changing the priority rankings of the goals in the achievement function. The sequential linear goal programming method (SLGP) is utilized to obtain the results. In order to generate solutions the Hyper version of LINDO (rel. 5.3) software is used. The necessary data to build the model was obtained during the field studies in YA?MUR TEKNİK Metal Ind. Co.
