The history of blowing snow transport research: international aspects and challenges

Abstract

This article addresses the history of research on blowing snow transport, its significance, and the interdisciplinary dimensions of this field. To provide a comprehensive account of the international history of blowing snow transport studies, approximately 3,000 publications in multiple languages related to blowing snow transport were reviewed using various methodological approaches. The current state of research in this area was assessed, and conclusions were drawn regarding prevailing challenges and potential avenues for their resolution. Furthermore, the study analyzed the usage of principal terms in both Russian and English, identified discrepancies in the interpretation of certain terms, and proposed a standardized set of definitions to promote consistency in terminology for international scientific communication.
