Abstract

This article describes one type of bone arrowheads (single-winged Kashira type) from Iron Age sites of the forest zone of Eastern Europe. According to V.A. Gorodtsov's hypothesis, they are imitations of Scythian bronze arrowheads of the early period of the 7th - 5th centuries BC. Since the appearance of this hypothesis the source base has significantly increased and allows to reconsider the basis for the typology and dating of these items. A collection of findings of Scythian bronze arrowheads on the Eastern European forest cultures is presented. It shows that items that could serve as models for imitating have not yet been found here. The author concludes that the bone single-winged arrowheads were not imitations of the Scythian ones but represented a local tradition. It is proposed to date them from the 6th-5th centuries BC to the 3rd - 2nd centuries BC.
