
В обзорной статье приведены наиболее общие сведения относительно специфической категории инфекционных болезней животных и человека, так называемых трансмиссивных губкообразных энцефалопатий, или прионных инфекций. В кратком введении объясняется необходимость освещения проблемы применительно к природопользованию, значение ветеринарного здравоохранения при трафике и интродукции диких животных, неизбежность депопуляции дикого кабана как безальтернативной меры искоренения африканской чумы свиней в РФ. Подробно изложена прионная этиология, патогенетика, важнейшие прионные инфекции. Особое внимание уделено наиболее значимому в данном контексте заболеванию - хроническому истощению оленей.
