Abstract

The current article examines a significant set of English loanwords used in the speech of Russian lawyers. The main reasons for the introduction of English loanwords in the legal language are the expansion of international professional contacts, the emergence of new types of crimes and criminals, which is associated with the development of information technologies as well as the laws, and practices of human rights activities. The units under study are divided into two groups: those related to various types of socio-economic activity and allow describing a lawyer as a professional in a particular field, and legal term loanwords that certify a person as a competent lawyer who is familiar with new trends in the field of jurisprudence.
