Del recinto conventual a la gestión del dominio. Estrategias de análisis espacial en el estudio del monasterio femenino hospitalario de Santa Maria d’Alguaire (El Segrià)

Abstract

Este trabajo analiza las dinámicas espaciales y patrimoniales del monasterio femenino hospitalario de Santa Maria d’Alguaire (el Segrià), el monasterio femenino más relevante de la Orden del Hospital en la Cataluña medieval. Mediante una innovadora metodología de análisis espacial a doble nivel, se examinan tanto las estructuras internas del monasterio —centrándose en la iglesia conventual— como la proyección territorial externa de su dominio. A partir de amplios hallazgos arqueológicos y fuentes archivísticas, esta investigación utiliza herramientas SIG para georreferenciar y analizar los vestigios arquitectónicos y los diversos bienes que conformaban el patrimonio monástico. Estos bienes, que incluyen tierras agrícolas, molinos y propiedades urbanas, revelan las estrategias económicas de la comunidad. El estudio destaca el papel fundamental de algunas mujeres nobles, como Marquesa de la Guàrdia, en la fundación y gestión del monasterio, y examina la interacción entre los contextos locales y regionales dentro de la Orden del Hospital. Los resultados preliminares demuestran la eficacia de la metodología propuesta, ofreciendo una reconstrucción espacial detallada de la evolución constructiva y económica del monasterio, contribuyendo al debate sobre la agencia territorial y económica de las mujeres dentro de las instituciones religiosas de época medieval.
