Entre Belzébul et le Grand Prêtre : le Codex Washingtoniensis, un témoin-clé d'un état intermédiaire de Mc 3,20-3

Abstract

Cet article examine la péricope de la controverse de Belzébul (Mc 3,20-35) dans le Codex Washingtoniensis, dans le cadre plus large de l’évolution textuelle du Nouveau Testament. L’étude met en lumière la structure narrative complexe et les couches théologiques du texte, qui dépassent un simple débat sur le pouvoir de Jésus à exorciser les démons. En analysant des variantes textuelles-clés, l’article révèle un thème sous-jacent plus profond : la critique de Jésus envers les autorités religieuses et politiques, en particulier les prêtres hérodiens et leur relation avec le Temple. Le vocabulaire utilisé, notamment en référence à la « maison de l’homme fort », évoque des liens avec la destruction du Premier Temple et la restitution des objets sacrés, en écho au langage d’Esdras. L’analyse montre comment les choix des scribes, face à des passages peu clairs, ont influencé la tradition textuelle. À travers une comparaison détaillée du Codex Washingtoniensis avec d’autres manuscrits-clés, tels que le Codex de Bèze et le Codex Vaticanus, cette étude explore les implications théologiques et les processus éditoriaux qui ont façonné la transmission de la péricope.
