Articles of Bones in the Materials of the First Layer of the Eneolithic Settlement “Novoilinka-VI”

Abstract

In 2013, in the Altai Territory was revealed a new monument of the Chalcolithic era - the Novoilinka-VI settlement. The discovered finds of animal bones (more than 30000) allow speaking confidently about the nature of the economy of the monuments' population. During the study of the first layer of the Novoilinka-VI settlement collection was made of very expressive series of bones with traces of processing. Most products are made of the bones of a horse. Products from the lower jaw and blades of the horse are widespread in the steppes of Eurasia from Moldova to the Upper Ob from the Eneolithic to the early Iron Age. The chisel type products have analogues in the material cultures of the Eneolithic and Early Bronze Age in Northern Kazakhstan, Steppe Altai and the Baraba forest-steppe. Products from the first phalanx of horses with a groove and scratches have analogues in the material cultures of the Eneolithic in Northern Kazakhstan. Analogues of “needle-” arrowheads are known in the burials of the Krotovskaya and Odinovskaya culture of the Early Bronze Age of the Baraba forest-steppe. “Clutches” of the first phalanges of horses are very specific products. These clutches are are the most upper part of the arched mechanism. Perhaps these items may be one of the ethnocultural features of Eneolithic monuments of the Kulunda steppe
